Flying In

Book your flight to Lihue Airport (LIH). Some flights come direct from major mainland cities, while others will have you stop at Oahu’s Honolulu Airport (HNL) before a quick island hopper flight to Kauai.

Stay

For convenience, we recommend staying on the Southside of the island, as the event is held in Omao, located right off Kauai’s main highway. Southside towns like Koloa, Poipu, Kalaheo, Omao, and Lawai are ideal.

  • Airbnbs: Great for groups! Renting a house or condo can be a fun and budget-friendly option.

  • Hotels: Check out our room block at Koloa Landing Resort (Marriott) in Poipu for an easy and luxurious stay with up to 40% off regular rates.

  • Other areas: The Northshore (Hanalei, Kilauea, Princeville) offers beautiful scenery, while the Eastside (Kapaa, Lihue) and Westside (Waimea, Kekaha, Hanapepe) offer more affordable lodging options. Keep in mind that staying near the Southside is more convenient for the week’s events!

GYMS

If you’re looking to keep up your workouts during your trip, we have Keala Affiliate Gyms across the island!

  • Kauai CrossFit (Lihue Fitness Center): 3-3131 Kuhio Hwy, Lihue, HI 96766

  • CrossFit Poipu (Southside Fitness Center): 3580 Koloa Rd, Kalaheo, HI 96741

  • CrossFit Kekaha (Kekaha Fitness Center): 8171 Kekaha Rd, Kekaha, HI 96752

Getting Around

We highly recommend renting a car! While Kauai is small, everything is pretty spread out, there is limited public transportation, and it’s not a walkable island when you’re exploring.

Cell reception can be spotty in some areas. Download maps and event details in advance just in case!

Packing

Kauai’s weather is unpredictable—think warm, tropical, and possibly rainy. A light rain jacket is a great item to pack, just in case!

The trail terrain can be muddy and uneven, so opt for grippy trail shoes over gym trainers. You may also want to leave them behind after the race, they’ll be muddy!

Tropical weather and active days mean you’ll want to drink plenty of water. Pack a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated!
